Australians celebrate Father’s Day every first Sunday in September. However, Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman took the holidays to post a touching tribute to his father Christopher John Jackman, who passed away on September 5, 2021 at the age of 84.
“In the early hours of Father’s Day (AU), my father died peacefully,” said the X-MEN star on Instagram on September 6th. “And although I am deeply saddened, I am filled with such gratitude and love. In a word, my father was extraordinary. He dedicated his life to his family, his work and his faith. “
Jackman added, “I pray he is at peace with God now.”
“Thank you for all of your messages. I am grateful for the love and the prayers, ”added Jackman in a follow-up post.
Jackman remembered his father raising him and his siblings alone after their mother left Australia. However, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN star said he valued everything his father taught him as a kid.
“It’s always about the family,” he said in an interview with 60 Minutes in 2012. “It’s always, ‘How are you? [wife] Deb? ‘ It’s not about work and I think he is living with him, probably some of his regrets and feelings, maybe he … put too much into his career at the wrong time and he doesn’t want me to make this mistake. And so he always reminds me in his gentle way that this is the most important thing. “
In 2020, Jackman shared a post from his father honoring him on American Father’s Day.
“My father taught me to always keep my promises,” wrote Jackman. “Even if it turns out that there is a better option or something that is more useful to me. Stay true to your word. “
